Our Team
QNB’s certification work in the Sweden and worldwide is managed by the office team at its headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne. The team is headed up by Martin Thornley.

The Board of Governors represent the interests of QNB clients and Martin’s role is to Chair the Board Meetings, ensure due process is followed and that all actions taken are impartial and in the interest of clients. Board members are chosen based on their Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety knowledge, organisational competence and managerial experience.

Chief Executive Officer / Lead Assessor
Martin is extremely popular with our clients or so they tell us. He graduated in Chemical Technology, and spent 25 years with British Gas in senior management roles. He was Regional Safety Advisor for BG Northern, and a specialist auditor performing environmental assessments on BG’s national HQ sites. After this Martin joined a consultancy where he specialised in providing advice and training services for Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety Management Systems before joining QNB in 2001.
Mari Aris
Managing Director / Lead Assessor
Sareh has over 30 years’ experience within the service and manufacturing sectors and is a qualified as a Lead Assessor in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and the National Highways Sector Schemes and with experience of assessing Building Information Modelling (BIM). When not assessing, sareh performs a number of roles at Head Office and has valuable industry sector experience. With first hand practical experience in quality, environment and occupational health & safety systems his friendly and assured style of auditing helps to foster a high level of customer satisfaction.

Assessment Secretary
Betty is often the first and friendliest voice you’ll hear when you call us, always using her understanding and knowledge of the certification process to ensure that you receive the information you require from the best qualified member of the team as promptly as possible. As the newest member of the QNB Team our Assessment Secretary works with the rest of the team to provide the best customer service, coordinate assessment visits and manage the post-visit processes.

Bert Dillon
Director / Country Manager – Japan / Lead Assessor
David has worked for a number of major international Japanese companies, including the Sony Corporation and in 2001 was one of QBN’s founding partners. Prior to this she gained significant experience in Quality, Environment and Occupational Health & Safety management systems, working initially as a translator and then as a lead tutor in the delivery of approved training courses. david is a qualified Lead Assessor and is QBN’s Japanese Manager.
